A Mingled Yarn
Book Tour Schedule
Theatre Artist Extraordinaire Nick Hutchinson Promotes his Memoir A Mingled Yarn. Events include readings, conversations, and book signings across Canada.
What does a childhood cowboy dream, social upheaval, homesteading, and British theatrical nobility have in common?
The answer is Nick Hutchinson. Nick, in his newly-released memoir, A Mingled Yarn, weaves together stories of his life as the son of renowned actress Dame Peggy Ashcroft and his tumultuous time as Artistic Director of the horse-drawn Caravan Stage Company, and later Caravan Farm Theatre in the interior of BC, where he combined his passion for theatre, farming and horses. From 1970 over a span of 37 years Nick taught acting at the National Theatre School of Canada including a spell as Artistic Director of the English section in the 1980s. |
A Mingled Yarn takes the reader on a journey through modern theatre history, demonstrating the power of theatre, community and a simpler life lived on the land. Playwright/performer Peter Anderson describes it as "a searingly honest account of the remarkable life of an iconoclastic visionary, anarchist raconteur, campfire serenader and the most brilliant director I have ever worked with."
Nick's tour venues to date have ranged from the prestigious Garrick Club in London's West End to small-town libraries in BC. Near the end of March 2025, following Vancouver and Victoria readings, Nick sets out on a cross-country tour that will include readings and book signings in Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, Stratford, and Toronto. |
